No love lost here for the Femmes, I see. A fond memory of mine, upon my arrival at Indiana University for the beginning of my collegiate journey, was the first Violent Femmes record pouring from every window. At that time, 1985, it was still a cult classic and a true alternative record.
It is a shame the way "Blister in the Sun" has become so overdone. It is probably one of the songs I could never hear for the rest of my life, and die happy. I will give you that.
However, many memories associated with the Femmes on the turntable.

i didn't get Aaron's christmas mix last year, so i've never heard that knife song...heh...it's okay though, i'm not particularly fond of the knife, with the exception of heartbeats.

atlantic city is one of my favorite songs...

I have never liked that violent femes song and have no idea why Gnarls chose to cover it.

great first post! i don't think i'm familiar with that particular track by the Knife, nor the Rosebuds in general (although i think i saw them open for some band i saw sometime, vague, i know, but what the hell)- agree completely on Never Tear Us Apart, and Atlantic City as well, man that fucking song! makes you want to take someone by the hand and run away from everything!- i also seem to just have a general dislike for the Violent Femmes, don't know why, but, blah- and yeah, no way you can delete one track off an album, so don't think about it- looking forward to the next post!
